Timmy Lynn Hord is an artist, potter and highland piper. A native Charlottean, she has been sharing her artistic talents since the late 60's working with her namesake father, Tim Hord, a Master Photographer, in traditional photography and in the 70's began her first oil painting lessons with her mother Aileen. Through the years, Timmy has studied with many fine instructors, in various mediums to become an accomplished multi-talented artist.

This former professional photographer has branched out into new mediums over her career and as digital technology brought change to photography, Timmy found herself desiring to paint much more than ever. In 2001 she turned her primary focus to painting with oils on canvas, linen and paper textures. The many years she spent painting on silver gelatin photographs enhanced Timmy's abilities to transfer photographs to canvas with amazing accuracy while maintaining a painterly feel to her portraits and landscapes. Her vivid imagination and skill with a brush has allowed her to transform photographs into works of art all her own.

Today her commissioned works include freehand oil portraits, landscapes and pottery. She has been specializing in the production of Quaich, traditional Scottish drinking vessels, made for whiskey, out of clay. Throwing and handbuilding clayworks are new and exciting explorations for Timmy, and yet, she continues to feel her way through the designing of Tartans and Plaids, in oil on canvas (a process she begin in 2004) and painting the landscapes of Rural Hill in Huntersville remain a special treat for her senses.

All her works are truly inspired from within.

Timmy received the Master Artist degree (1993) and the Photographic Craftsman degree (2000) from the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) because of the excellence of all her creations. She is a Fellow of the Professional Photographers of North Carolina, a Fellow and Past President (1993) of the Carolina Artisans Guild and is a member and Past President (2002) of the Charlotte Art League. Her oil portraits and artworks are hanging in many fine homes and corporate offices throughout the Southeast.
